Cycling

	Weekly on Mondays
Venue	Meet outside Aldinga Senior Citizens’ Club, Valiant Road, Port Willunga or as advised by the Course Leader
Time	8:30am to 11:30am every week, including school holidays

This group cycles for health and pleasure along bike trails and back roads in the southern area. Requirements are a bike in good order, helmet, water, nibbles and, in case a bakery stop is discovered, some money.

Creative Writing

	Fortnightly on Mondays
Venue	St Ann’s Room, beside the Church, Main South Road, Aldinga
Time	2:00pm to 4:00pm

Members of this writing group explore all aspects and styles of the written word and examine creative writing techniques. The sessions are open to any members from beginners to experienced who wish to share their stories and listen to each other’s work in a friendly and non-judgemental environment.

Wellbeing Program

	Fortnightly on Tuesdays
Venue	St Ann’s Room, beside the Church, Main South Road, Aldinga
Time	10:00am to 12:00 noon

The City of Onkaparinga has collaborated with researchers from the University of South Australia to develop dedicated wellbeing workshops. The focus is on creating helpful habits and a positive outlook to support senior community members in ageing well. A series of presentations and workshops will be led by Judith Lowe, Sustaining Independence and Wellbeing – Project Officer for the City of Onkaparinga.

Term I will provide four workshops on Living Well Matters, covering practical evidence based information developed with UniSA on sleep, brain health, food and movement for ageing.

Camera Group

	Fortnightly on Wednesdays
Venue	Willunga
Time	3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This course might interest people who “point and shoot”. The focus is on camera control and set up. There may be some field trips with this group and the Course Leader will advise of future meetings.

First Tuesday Book Club

	First Tuesday of the Month
Venue	St Ann’s Room, beside the Church, Main South Road, Aldinga
Time	2:00pm – 3:30pm

Members of this group share thoughts and reactions to their current readings, paying particular attention to a focus book selected each month from best-sellers and prize-winners available from the Noarlunga Library.

History of India: Prior to 1000AD

India is home to some of the world’s oldest, greatest, and most successful civilizations. Today the South Asian subcontinent contains 20 percent of the world’s population and is a thriving centre for global business. Over the past 5,000 years, the subcontinent has been home to a rich tapestry of peoples and cultures. Two of the world’s great religions—Hinduism and Buddhism—as well as some of humanity’s most significant wisdom literature all have their origins in South Asia. And with its strategic location and unique geography, the lands east of the Indus River have long been a central hub for trade, migration, and cultural exchange.

A History of India looks at South Asia from its earliest societies along the Indus and Ganges rivers through the modern challenges of the 21st century. Taught by Professor Michael H. Fisher of Oberlin College.

Walking

	Weekly on Thursdays

Members of this group share designing interesting walks that provide exercise, refreshment and interest to others. Walks usually cover about 7.5 kms.

Remember: comfortable shoes, water, head gear, sun protection and some cash in case you want social coffee at the finish.

Table Board Games

The first meeting for the term will be at Old Noarlunga after which the Leader will co-ordinate the meeting places with the participants.

Sit and Sew

	Fortnightly on Fridays
Venue	McLaren Vale
Time	2:00pm – 5:00pm

Come along and join like-minded people for a chat while you get your sewing projects and other UFOs completed, whether it’s patchwork and quilting, mending, cutting out, knitting etc or just a creative chat over a cuppa.

Garden Group

Time	Meet at 10:00am

The Garden Group usually visits two sites, either private or public gardens, or garden centres, each time we meet. These can be local, in nearby towns, or in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills or Victor Harbor. We usually have lunch together afterwards.

As a group to decipher the meanings of lyrics of popular songs of the 1960s and 1970s. What does ‘Drove the Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry’ really mean? Songs may include ones by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Queen and others. Thought provoking, good music and fun all at the same time.
